Posts

What is the post content type?

Posts are very similarly structured to a page content type, but you have additional options to add categories and tags, to display authors, etc. This content type is used more for a blog, news articles, and more timely content, as opposed to the static content you would see on the page content type.

How to add a post:

  1. On the top admin bar, navigate to New > Post.
  2. Enter in your post title where it says Add Title.
  3. Use the Post settings in the right sidebar to configure your post. Here are notable fields in the post settings:
    • Publish date: This will appear on list views and on the post page and in the breadcrumbs
    • Stick to the top of the blog: When the post is created, you can have this post stick to the top of the listing page so that it is the first one seen on the listing page.
    • Author: This defaults to the user who created the page, but you have the option to change the author to another user on your site. This can optionally appear on the list views and detail pages.
    • Categories and tags: see Managing Categories & Tags
    • Featured image: This is the thumbnail image that will appear in list views. It will not appear on the detail page.
    • Excerpt: This is a teaser or short description for the post that will show up in list views.
  4. Start adding blocks to the main content area of your page.
  5. Preview and publish your post once you’ve added your content.
